LANDA WILLIE

We had a conversation with creative Landa Willie and this is what came out of it. We started with a few questions to get into her head.

1-What makes you African Inspired?

My heritage and the beauty that is the black person.

2-Creativity in our generation seems to be original, but at the same time repeats itself. ‘’doing the same thing but just renaming it’’ how do you manage to find original ways to not fall in this trap?

I have my own story to tell and my own unique way of telling it. It is quite difficult for me to fall into that trap because I get inspired by so many things everyday and I have so many stories I want to tell.

3-Describe one situation you have faced as a creative that gave you your biggest lesson. Were you turned a negative into a positive.

Not everyone always feels comfortable with the pictures I put out there and the things I write. I realized that sometimes I make people uncomfortable but I use that to open the discussion ,provoke thought and discuss.

4-What is your personal hashtag # of the year and why?

‪#‎UNAPOLOGETICALLYBLACK‬ I feel that us black people we are made to feel apologetic for everything because somehow when you are ‘’too black’’ or ‘’too African’’ it makes others uncomfortable. I hate that black people have to be apologetic about their presence, talents etc.

5-One thing you can not go a day without doing to help your creative process?

MUSIC!!!!!!!!

Landa Willie is a 21st Century Creative blogger. Who can express her feelings and provoke thought with just one clique of a camera. She uses visual creativity to speak to her audience. Born only in 1995 Landa has already achieved so much. She wears many hats just to name a few she is a Blogger,Columnist,Stylist ,Model and Entrepreneur. She describes herself as the ‘’creative nuisance’’ rightfully so . If you take a look at her blog or instagram page it can be described as trying to fit a square into a circle shape somehow it fits. Be sure to look out for this unorthodox creatives presence on social media as she continues to go against the status quo of what is politically correct in terms of visual art.
